An introduction to leather working. This workshop will introduce you to some basic leather making skills. During the workshop you will make your own leather purse. This is designed to be hung on a belt and draws its inspiration from Orkney's Viking past.
Leather has been used to make clothing, leather bags, belts and countless other items for thousands of years. The methods you will be using have changed little over hundreds - if not thousands - of years.
In the workshop we will look at how to dye the leather, and how to create uniform and straight stitching lines. Finally, you will use a traditional two-needle stitching method to finish your purse.
When the session is complete, you will have an understanding of working with leather and the basic skills, to make simple, everyday leather objects. And most importantly, you will have made yourself a leather purse for your belt.

All materials are included. There are tools to borrow, and you will also take some basic tools home at the end.
You can cancel up to 24 hours before the workshop. After that, it is non refundable.
